Randomize and Seeds
How Randomize rolls a new video, Shuffle one part, the Randomization settings, what a seed is, and how the seed generator finds a run that ends on time.
Randomize
Randomize gives you a new version of the current mode in one click: new settings, music and sound. It is in the top bar and on the play controls. The arrows next to it in the top bar step back and forward through your recent rolls, so a roll you liked is never lost. Your mode stays the same unless you turn on Random mode every roll (or press Shift + R).
A roll only uses settings your plan can open, so every video it makes is one you could have set up by hand. Every roll can also be undone with Ctrl + Z. Randomize is greyed out for the few modes it does not support yet, and for modes in development.
Tip
- To roll just one part, such as the music or the ball colour, use the Shuffle one part tiles under the recording area. Pin keeps a part the same on every roll.
Randomization Settings
Physics > Randomization controls how far a roll reaches. It applies to every mode.
| Setting | What it does | Options / default |
|---|---|---|
| Depth | How much of your project a roll may change. | Light, Moderate, Deep, Total, Custom. Default: Moderate. |
| Groups to randomize | Which groups the chosen depth changes. With Custom you pick them yourself. | Mode settings, Ball style, Music & sound, Physics feel, Ball colour, Ball shape, Ball motion, Arena & borders, Trails, Background, Impact effects. |
| Intensity | How far each rolled setting may move from its default. | 0 to 1. Default: 1. |
| Random mode every roll | Each roll also picks a new mode. | On / Off. Default: Off. |
| Safe mode | Keeps rolls watchable (no ball that blends into the background, no wild shapes or heavy effects). | On / Off. Default: On. |
| Clean audio | Keeps rolled audio effects clean (no long reverb, heavy echo or distortion). | On / Off. Default: On. |
What a Seed Is
Every run uses a seed: a code that decides all the "random" choices in the simulation, such as launch angles. The same seed with the same settings plays the same run every time, on any computer. That is what makes a video repeatable: find a run you like and record exactly that run. Without a generated seed each restart is a little different.
One-Click Seed
Many videos look best when the ending lands right at the end of the clip: the ball escapes, the race is won or the board is cleared just before the video stops. The seed generator in the top bar (Seed on a phone) does this in one click. It tests many seeds, picks one whose finish lands just under your clip length, and plays it.
While it searches, the video pauses and a popup opens over the recording area. The button shows how many seeds it has tested; click it to cancel. When it finishes it shows the result, for example "Seed with 29.6s". Click it again to search for another. The button only appears for modes with a clear ending.
Tip
- Set the clip length first. The search aims at the length in the top bar.
The Seed Search Popup
The popup shows the search live: seeds tested, time spent, and every seed that has finished so far, with how far from your target it is. A seed inside your range is applied and played at once and the popup closes. To take one from the list instead, press Use this seed on its row: it plays that seed and sets your clip length to its finish time plus a short hold, and the button says the new length before you press it.
The slider sets the earliest and latest finish you will accept. A wider range finds a seed faster. If nothing lands in range, the popup stays open with the closest seeds so you can take one or widen the range. Max CPU searches on every processor core; Cancel search leaves the video as it was.
The Seed Generator Section
Physics > Seed generator gives you full control over the search: the clip length it aims for, how much video to keep after the finish, how far before or after the target a finish may land, whether the ball must escape through real bounces only, and whether each seed may nudge gravity and bounce slightly to find a match faster. Generate seed starts a search; Remove seed goes back to random runs. For a mode without a fixed ending the section explains that there is nothing to search for.
Tip
- For some modes the length is set by the mode itself (track length, number of players). The seed then decides who wins, not when.
Which Plan Includes What
Randomize, the one-click seed button and the Randomization settings work on every plan. The full Seed generator section is included with Creator and up. In Shuffle one part, the first four tiles are included with Creator and up, and the other tiles and Pin with Pro and up. The lock on a section always shows the current requirement.
