Audio in Your Exported Video, Timing and Sync
How sound gets into the video file, how to keep bounces on the beat, and what to do if an export is quiet, out of sync or silent.
How audio gets into the video
When you export, the Studio renders the sound together with the picture, frame by frame, so every bounce sound lands on the frame where the bounce happens, even if your device is slow. The finished MP4 carries a stereo audio track (AAC in most browsers). Your volume sliders, effects, filter settings and trims are all baked in. The progress shows "Encoding Audio..." for this step.
Cloud renders use the same settings and include the same audio. Your uploaded songs and sounds must be in the cloud (not Local only) for a cloud render to hear them.
Keeping bounces on the beat
Timing is controlled by a few switches, spread across the Studio.
| Setting | Where | Effect on timing |
|---|---|---|
| Perfect Beat Bouncing | Audio tab, top | On: bounces land on the MIDI notes. Off: free physics. |
| Music Sync | Add-on under the mode picker in Basics / mode panel | On: bounce on the beat. Off: free bounce, song still plays per bounce. |
| Sync Offset (ms) | Rhythmic mode settings, when bounces are locked to the beat | -500 to 500, default 0. Nudges the visual bounce earlier or later against the sound. |
| Start At / End At | MIDI Bounce Filtering or Skip Intro / Trim | Skips a long intro or outro. |
| Min Length and Velocity filters | Advanced Filtering | Removing tiny, quiet notes makes bounces less crowded. |
Technical parameters
- An uploaded song played as slices has no note timing, so the ball uses normal physics and each bounce simply plays the next slice. Convert the song to MIDI if you need bounces on the beat.
Common problems
Most audio issues come from the mix or from where a file is stored.
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The song is too quiet | Bounce Volume is low; per-bounce notes follow Bounce Volume, not Background Song Volume. | Raise Bounce Volume. |
| Break sounds drown the tune | Break Volume is high. | Lower Break Volume or set Breaks to None. |
| Sound is muffled | LPF Cutoff Hz is low, or Hardware Filter Override is on. | Raise the cutoff or use Reset Audio Settings. |
| No echo although Stereo Echo Core is on | Bypass Stereo Echo is on (the default). | Turn Bypass Stereo Echo off. |
| A song plays on my device but not for others or in a cloud render | The file is Local only (storage full) or its library entry did not save. | Free up storage so it syncs, or upload it again. |
| The ball stops bouncing to the song | A MIDI filter removed every note. | Press Reset in MIDI Bounce Filtering. |
| The exported video is silent | Your browser could not encode audio. | Update your browser, try Chrome or Edge on a computer, or use a cloud render. |
| Upload rejected: "Invalid file type" | The file is not MP3, WAV or MIDI. | Convert it to MP3. |
| Upload rejected: "File too large" | The file is over 10 MB. | Export it as an MP3 at 128 to 192 kbps, or trim it. |
