Hybrid Modes & Add-Ons
Layer Music Sync, Line Trails, and Breaking Rings on top of any mode to build combinations like a rhythmic escape.

Modes vs Add-Ons
Alongside the six modes, the Engine tab has a set of add-on modifiers you can toggle on top of whatever mode you are using. A mode defines the core "game"; an add-on layers an extra behavior over it. Combining them is how you create hybrid runs that do not fit neatly into one category, without needing a separate mode entry for every combination.
The Three Add-Ons
Three modifiers can be layered onto a run:
| Add-on | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Line Trail Engine | Glowing trails and paths behind the ball (the "Trail Mode" light-painting look). |
| Music Sync | Makes the visuals and bounce timing react to the audio beat. |
| Breaking Rings | Adds the concentric Escape rings on top of another mode. |
Line Trail Engine (Trail Mode)
The Line Trail Engine adds glowing neon trails that follow the ball and fade over time. On its own, over a dark background, it produces the light-painting look that marketing refers to as a separate "Trail Mode". Layered onto other modes, it adds motion emphasis and light streaks to any run. You configure the trail length, thickness, neon gradients, and glow in the Arts tab.
The Rhythmic Escape
The single most reused setup on the platform is a rhythmic escape: turn on Music Sync and Breaking Rings together, and a single ball works its way outward through a stack of rings while every wall contact plays the next note of the song. The viewer hears the tune getting further along and sees the ball getting further out, so sound and progress reinforce each other. This is the "bouncing ball but it plays [song]" format, and it is built from the Add-ons rather than a preset.
Build it from the toggles: Engine tab, turn on Music Sync and Breaking Rings. There is a full tutorial walkthrough of this format under Tutorials.
Stacking Add-Ons
Add-ons combine freely. Music Sync plus Drawer gives a rhythmic drawing that advances with the song; Music Sync plus Escape gives the rhythmic escape above. Experiment with combinations: the most original runs usually come from an unexpected pairing.
Try one mode plus one add-on first. Stacking all three at once can get visually noisy; the cleanest hybrids usually pair a single mode with a single modifier.
